Privacy Policy

Learn Korean: OwnWords  ·  Last updated: July 2026

Overview

Learn Korean: OwnWords ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how the app handles your data.

Your data stays on your device

Diary entries, vocabulary, progress (XP, streaks, badges), and quiz results are stored on your device. We do not have access to this data unless you choose to send it off-device, such as by translating, submitting feedback, exporting a backup, or sharing content. You can delete everything at any time from Settings, or by uninstalling the app.

What we send off-device

Export, import, and sharing

If you export a backup, import a backup file, or use the share button, you choose where that content goes. Files or text you choose to send may then be handled by Apple and by the apps or services you select in the iOS share sheet, outside of our control.

What we do NOT collect

Permissions

The app may request microphone access for speech-to-text and notification permissions for study reminders. These are optional and can be managed in your device settings. Voice input uses Apple's speech recognition service, which may process your audio on Apple's servers — see apple.com/legal/privacy.
